Tomorrow...TOmorrow...TOMORROW!!!

Okay, anyone that has been reading about how I wasn't able to get into my classroom yet...guess where I'm going tomorrow?!

That's right...my new classroom!!

I actually have a couple of Monday Made Its, but they are going to have to wait until tomorrow. I spent close to 6 hours at my friend's school today helping her with some rearranging and bulletin boards. And while I was there I received an email from my principal saying that I could get into school this week. That means that I'll be standing in her office bright and early tomorrow morning. Since I got home I have been all over the place trying to decide what I need to bring with me tomorrow. My plan is to get the set-up in order and then start going through what was left by the previous teacher.

Tomorrow I will post my Monday Made Its (yes, I know tomorrow is Tuesday, but I can't bring myself to sit still long enough to compose a good enough post right now) and some "before" photos of my classroom! :o)

Finally, don't forget to enter my giveaway!!

Thanks for reading!

Oh yeah! And I think the most important first day of school thing is starting to learn routines like lunch count, lining up, bathroom, etc!

Oh... and I think the most important thing for the first day is to start building that classroom community so students can start letting down their guards and get comfortable!

Most important thing to do on the first day is to establish clear procedures & classroom rules! :)

The most important thing is definitely establishing rules and procedures. If you don't get that out of the way from the beginning, you're going to have a hard time the rest of the year!!

The most important thing to do on the first day of school is set the tone. This is a classroom of learning, of routine, of order. I am the leader, and we are a team. These are things we practice on day 1! (And of course to have Starbucks! ;) )

Like everyone else said, begin establishing routines, expectations and procedures... but I think it's also important to make the first day fun and ease their minds that your classroom will be a happy, safe place where they will enjoy learning.

I am about to begin my first year teaching, and today was the first day I was able to work on my room. It's so exciting finally getting into your classroom and working on getting how you want it!

Oh, and I will agree with the experienced teachers - the most important thing on the first day of school is establishing classroom rules, procedures, and routines. It's also important to begin to establish relationships with the students and share your expectations for the year.
